Are you doing what you love? If not, why not?

I speak with so many people who have desires to do or try an activity or hobby but due to barriers such as costs, time pressures, confidence, family commitments or other constraints, they haven’t yet made it to the start line.

Our time on this planet is finite. It is too easy to push hopes, dreams and possible interests to the side and give yourself excuses of why you cannot. I want you to give yourself permission to say you can. Later down the track in your twilight years, your regrets will be of opportunities and desires lost not of the insignificant errors made along the way. Mistakes are a part of the learning process and will help guide you on your path.

Think back of all the activities you tried as a kid. You could have had thoughts of being a professional cricket player while on the school oval at lunch time, or had aspirations to be the next rock band when jamming with your mates after school, or of being a doctor or other prestigious role if you were the academic type.

The point is, as kids, we had the confidence to try out different hobbies and interests. Don’t let your ego tell you that you have to be good or that you require the latest equipment before commencing, just start. Every journey starts with a single step. You can always change direction if the destination isn’t what you thought it would be but you will never know unless you try.
